Our 5 Best Tips for Easy Installation
First we want to start by saying our Peel & Stick decals are about as easy to install as you can imagine.
Truly, you peel, and you stick. That’s it!
But, there are always little tips and tricks to everything, and we’re here to share ours! Here’s the little things we personally do every time to ensure a super easy installation:
1. Grab a friend!
If you’re decals are XXL, an extra set of hands is always a good thing! Plus, it’s always nice to have someone to bounce design ideas around with, and to hype you up!
2. Cut your decals into individual pieces from the roll.
Once you unroll your sheet of decals, cut them into individual pieces. As you cut them down individually, it’s easier to peel, install, and plan a layout. Pro Tip - keep the backing pieces until you’re done with installation! If you want to shift around where a decal is placed and take it off the wall for a minute, just stick it right back on the backing for ease.
3. Use a gentle painter’s tape to plan a tentative layout.
We love the good ole’ blue Scotch tape, but any super low-tack tape should work. Once your decals are cut individually, you can use the tape to lightly stick them to wall. This is a super easy way to plan a layout and switch things up before committing to the design. If you’re like me, this is the fun part! If my decals are different sizes, I always start with the larger pieces and then fill in extra space with the smaller ones.
4. Don’t be afraid to cut some decals!
For a move cohesive, natural look - don’t be afraid to cut into a few decals to give the appearance of a decal coming out of a wall or doorframe. Pro Tip - If you’re cutting a decal to use a portion in a specific spot, make sure to keep the other half of the decal to use in a different area!
5. Give your walls a little wash!
Yes, it’s listed in the instructions, but it’s an often overlooked and forgotten first step. But trust us, there’s a reason it’s listed in the instructions! The smallest dust particles on our walls build up without us even realizing, and they can impact how well your decal really adheres to the wall. You don’t need to go crazy - just a warm washcloth with water or a gentle soap, and an easy breezy swipe over your walls. Make sure your walls are completely dry before any decals are installed. There you have it, our super easy tips and tricks to make installation a little easier than it already is!
